Overview: Compensation

• $28 flat rate
• 2 shifts/week
• Evening differential $2.00/hr.
• Night differential $2.50/hr.
• Weekend differential $2.50/hr. Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses, and a nurse residency program for new graduates.   • Performs duties of a licensed practical nurse as prescribed by the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act.
  • Contributes to the development of a plan of care and follows through with such plan for selected patients.
  • Administers medication with a high degree of safety and accuracy.
  • Documents nursing care and activities.
  • Assists with patient care and monitors patients during procedures.
  • Assists the departmental assistant with clinical matters
  • Maintains the exam/treatment rooms and work environment.
  • Assists with the training of other staff. Qualifications: Education
    • Completion of a vocational program for Licensed Practical Nurse. Experience
      • Prefer previous hospital experience.
      • Previous work history reflecting stable employment is necessary.
      • If no work experience, will consider school attendance record and performance. (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure/Certification.
        • Current Oklahoma State LPN License.
        • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
        • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
