Job Title: RN ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neurology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current RN License Certifications: ACLS, Basic Life Support Must-Have: 1 year of experience, ICURN, Patient Care Description: Under general supervision, provide nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervene when necessary. Administer medication as prescribed. Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. Deliver patient care competently. Interact with family and patient in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at time of discharge. Inform patients and families of hospital procedures. Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegate tasks to support staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Schedule Notes: Fast-paced Neuro ICU. Various levels of acuity with 1:2 ratios for ICU status and 1:1 for post-thrombectomy patients or extremely unstable patients. Patient population primarily consists of strokes (Ischemic and Hemorrhagic) and post-operative neurosurgical patients. There are a variety of other neuro diagnoses such as CNS infections, though they make up a smaller portion of patients. Required Skills & Experience: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills. Education: Required Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program. Required Certifications & Licensure: Current RN License issued by the relevant State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License.
